As is usual with such sessions, I will begin by inviting everyone to introduce themselves. First of all, I introduce Dr Mary Neal, who is the committee’s adviser on the bill.
I find it particularly galling to listen to Mary Scanlon saying, “Well, if only the NHS looked after people with mental health problems better, we wouldn’t have to hit them with sticks as part of the welfare reform agenda.”
