Supported by: Miles Briggs*, Emma Harper*, Bill Kidd*, Annie Wells*, Jeremy Balfour*, Emma Roddick*, Kenneth Gibson*, Rona Mackay*, Liam McArthur* Fulton MacGregor: UEFA Grassroots Week Highlights Scottish Football *S6M-14680 Initiatives —That the Parliament observes UEFA Grassroots Week, which is being held from 23 to 29 September 2024; understands that clubs across Scotland will take part in this event, which helps to highlight some of the inspirational initiatives within Scottish grassroots football; notes that some of the initiatives receiving particular attention during the week include promoting the work of Scottish Para-Football, the world’s first affiliated national association dedicated to para-football, which ensures that everyone, regardless of age, ability, gender or background, can play football in a safe environment, the Scottish FA’s Learning Through Football programme, which is an educational online platform for young people that supports teaching and learning using the context of football, and which will also help participants to celebrate Scotland’s Maths Week, which runs concurrently with UEFA Grassroots Week, and finally the Cashback for Communities programme, an initiative that channels funds from the proceeds of crime into providing free activities and programmes for young people across Scotland, with a focus on underprivileged areas; supports that what it sees as the increasing number of sustainability-focused work going on in clubs across Scotland will also be celebrated as part of Scotland’s Climate Week, with clubs encouraged to share the initiatives taking place in their local communities; encourages all across Scotland to engage with their local grassroots football teams, and wishes all who are taking part in the event a fun week promoting Scottish football.
