SP Bill 73 Session 5 (2020) 2 Post-mortem Examinations (Defence Time Limit) (Scotland) Bill 291B Extension of time limit (1) This section applies where— (a) the defence post-mortem period has started, and (b) the accused has not notified the prosecutor under section 291A(2)(b) 5 that the accused will not exercise their right to instruct a post-mortem examination. (2) On an application made prior to expiry of the defence post-mortem period, the court may, on cause shown, extend the defence post-mortem period.
