It has been suggested to me that we will try to establish which is the appropriate body—perhaps the Chief and Assistant Chief Fire Officers Association—and ask it to respond to the committee on the petition and to comment on fire safety issues in relation to hospitals.

We have approached not only local authorities, but Highlands and Islands Enterprise with a view to replicating community ownership in other parts of Scotland, although to date, no financial assistance has been forthcoming. Without that funding, it is difficult to see how community ownership could be activated.
