In appraising orphan medicines to treat rare diseases, the Scottish Medicines Consortium may, in addition to the standard assessment of clinical and cost-effectiveness, apply modifiers which consider other additional factors.
It therefore calls on the Scottish Government to indicate what further action it will take to address these concerns, where appropriate in coordination with the UK Government and the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.
