The Scottish Government's initial response on the petition set out that:
It is for the SFA to develop a facility strategy for football and not the Scottish Government but we recognise that many football pitches and 3g pitches are provided through local Government investment.

Dumfries and Galloway Council were awarded £600,000 of CashBack facilities funding in 2012 to procure and construct three 3G pitches at Dumfries High School, Stranraer Academy and Annan Athletic.

Since 2007, sportscotland has supported the development of 77 full sized and small sized 3G pitches through its funding programmes and the Scottish Government's Cashback for Communities programme including the 3G pitch at Broadwood stadium in Cumbernauld.
