Finally, while we welcome the additional housing money that he mentioned today, some of which is accelerated and some of which, on the face of it, is new, what is the actual real-terms cut to the housing budget now for 2012-13? If Mr Brown looks at the note that has been made available to the Parliament, he will see that the underspend in 2010-11 was £98 million; that is the comparison at which Mr Brown should look.

In July 2001, I proposed a regulation of smoking bill, with the strong support of Dr Richard Simpson, Bill Aitken and Robert Brown. Subsequently, after 2003, the proposal was taken forward by Stewart Maxwell and, eventually, the Scottish Executive, which ultimately led to the smoking ban being implemented in 2006.
