I resorted to it very infrequently, and I was happy to see it go.I was in charge of a secondary school when it was made clear that corporal punishment had to go. We had pre-empted the start date by a complete term, had set up a system of reporting and alternative punishments, and lived in a fool's paradise for a term.

For many months I have sat on the committee discussing Arbuthnott funding, and I am dissatisfied because of the lack of openness and transparency about whether the extra moneys that were awarded to Ayrshire and Arran Primary Care NHS Trust were spent appropriately. To date, I have not received a suitable answer.

The first is the Travellers education network, which is primarily a network of teachers, and some community education workers, from central Scotland, Dumfries and Galloway, Fife and Clackmannanshire.
