I have a point to make about the revised definition of the start date of a trial. Dates and time limits are at the heart of the Scottish criminal legal system.
If members are agreeable, we could begin by agreeing the remit for the inquiry on 1 February, with the aim of concluding the report by the Easter recess. I think that that timescale is achievable.
We have an agreement to deal with the instruments by 30 March, but we could come back to them straight after the recess, if members would like a longer period of consideration.
