It would be useful if the clerks could write officially to Westminster to highlight the history of the structural funds' importance to Scotland and to say that we regret the timing, which is causing difficulty that is outwith our control—the elections and the start of the Parliament's recess in July are facts. The draft motion, which has been circulated to members, proposes that the provision should come into effect on 23 October, which is the first day after the October recess. Are members content with the draft?
I understood that the comparison was being made between the period up to 2 July and the recess period. Keith made the point about questions being asked during the recess.
