Official Report Meeting date: 13 June 2006

Subordinate Legislation Committee, 13 Jun 2006

I think that our earlier discussion will make us even more nervous about allowing things not to be specified on the face of the bill.In section 18D, "Power to require existing absent voters to provide personal identifiers", ministers are given a power to make regulations to enable registration officers to require existing absent voters to provide a signature and date of birth. Official Report Meeting date: 18 May 2006

Plenary, 18 May 2006

The report, "Hidden Harm—Next Steps: Supporting Children—Working with Parents", is one of the most important pieces of research that the Executive has done to date, because of the focus on children and the inference that we will take firmer action to remove children from substance-abusing families, at least for a while, to protect the family and, more impor...
Official Report Meeting date: 17 January 2006

Enterprise and Culture Committee, 17 Jan 2006

I think that we all agree that we should not get involved in individual issues, but the question is whether we might want to consider some media issues at a future date. For example, would it be useful if we asked SPICe to produce for next month a briefing to provide an overview of what is happening in the media and creative industries in Scotland?

Procedures Committee, 08 Nov 2005

There will be times when we must deal with an emergency situation, but it is not the end of the world if a member misses a question and has to resubmit it at a later date, even if they have prepared supplementaries.
Official Report Meeting date: 23 December 2004

Plenary, 23 Dec 2004

Of course, that is not the cheap option, but it is the right option. In relation to the work that is going on in Lanarkshire, there is early engagement with the public and with users of the service, and no decisions have been made to date. However, I would expect that, as ever, we shall continue in the direction of travel, which is to localise as many of our...
Official Report Meeting date: 16 December 2004

Plenary, 16 Dec 2004

If the minister was able to bring forward the completion date from 2007, that would be widely welcomed by the many thousands of commuters on both sides of the Forth who would be greatly assisted by reduced congestion, especially during rush hour.
Official Report Meeting date: 10 November 2004

Public Petitions Committee, 10 Nov 2004

You have a point about the review date being only six months away. However, I have concerns about the way in which the situation is being handled in Glasgow.
Official Report Meeting date: 1 July 2004

Plenary, 01 Jul 2004

All that I can say to members is that I have examined the figures, which show that each party's share of questions to date matches closely its share of questions that have been lodged.
Official Report Meeting date: 26 February 2004

Plenary, 26 Feb 2004

I look forward to visiting Fife at a future date, diary permitting. When the minister finally gets to Fife, I am sure that he will be made aware of the many excellent galleries and museums in north-east Fife, including the Scottish Fisheries Museum at Anstruther.
