That is not to cast aspersions on my GP colleagues; it is to recognise the reality that unless a practitioner sees cases pretty frequently, he or she will not keep fully up to date on the issues. The process is more iterative: they might contact the patient to ask them to phone to arrange a suitable appointment date. Some boards are doing that to an extent at the moment, but the numbers were not big enough to see any clear relationship between that and a reduction in did-not-attend rates.
