Supported by: Kaukab Stewart, Paul McLennan *S6M-14590 Angela Constance: Coronavirus (Recovery and Reform) (Scotland) Act 2022 (Extension of Temporary Justice Measures) Regulations 2024 [draft]—That the Criminal Justice Committee recommends that the Coronavirus (Recovery and Reform) (Scotland) Act 2022 (Extension of Temporary Justice Measures) Regulations 2024 [draft] be approved. Supported by: Siobhian Brown *S6M-14589 Karen Adam: United Nations International Day of Sign Languages—That the Parliament marks what it sees as the importance of the United Nations International Day of Sign Languages, which takes place on 23 September 2024; considers that it is a unique opportunity to support, promote and celebrate the linguistic and cultural diversity of all sign language users; understands that, across the world, over 300 different sign languages are used, enabling 70 million Deaf people worldwide to communicate, and believes that 23 September is a time for reflection on how far Scotland has come with recognising BSL as one of its official languages, becoming the only nation in the UK that has given BSL recognition in law, but also on how far it still has to progress to meet the ambition of being the best place in the world for a BSL user to live, work and learn.
