I am delighted that the Scottish Parliament is taking time to commemorate again those who were lost in the war and the fight to ensure that the Falkland Islands are British, free and able to choose their future. I acknowledge and welcome Mr Brown’s repeat performance this afternoon and, of course, his service to the Falklands in that conflict.
Prior to the UK elections last year, SNP MP Alan Brown introduced a bill, with cross-party support, calling on the UK Government to publish a compensation framework for WASPI women, to be set at £3,000 to £10,000 or more.
I bring that to the attention of the minister and members. I thank Keith Brown for that intervention and I hope that I will be able to get a ticket to that event.
Far too few people even knew about the grants. SiobhianBrown made a very good point about women not knowing that grants were available and therefore not accessing them.
Only the actions of the Scottish Government have reduced that burden in Scotland.
