The current targets are set out in Part One the Climate Change (Scotland) Act 2009Climate Change (Scotland) Act 2009 (asp 12) and are as follows—
A 2050 target of 80%;
A 2020 target of 42% (known as the "interim target");
Secondary legislation setting annual targets between 2010 and 2050 which would "allow the interim target and the 2050 target to be met"Climate Change (Scotland) Act 2009 (asp 12), section 3(2)(b) and for the targets set between 2020 and 2050 to be "at least 3% less than the target for the preceding year"Climate Change (Scotland) Act 2009 (asp 12), section 3(2)(c)(ii);
A requirement on the Scottish Government to seek advice from the "relevant body"Climate Change (Scotland) Act 2009 (asp 12), section 5 and consider the "target setting criteria"Climate Change (Scotland) Act 2009 (asp 12), section 4(4) when setting annual targets;
Modification of—
the percentage of 3% by which annual targets between 2020 and 2050 should be made more challengingClimate Change (Scotland) Act 2009 (asp 12), section 6(1)(a);
