The Bill at introduction provided for sections 3 to 5 to come into force on the day after Royal Assent but provided for sections 1 and 2 to come into force on the 7th of July following the date of Royal Assent. 5. The Bill, as amended, enables the Scottish Ministers to have control over the commencement of the Bill so that it can be brought into force once there is more certainty as to the exact date at which education authorities and managers of grant-aided schools will be equipped to fulfil their duties under the Bill.
