Standing Order Rule changes - Proxy Voting - Permanent provision
The Presiding Officer gave a positive response to the Committee on how the system had been operating and stated within the options open to members unable to attend a vote in person using a proxy vote:
“has the benefit of allowing transparency that they are not able to be present but that their constituents are still being represented in the vote.”

Section 41(3)b of the Landfill Tax (Scotland) Act 2014 states that such an order—
“ceases to have effect at the expiry of the period of 28 days beginning with the date on which it was made unless, before the expiry of that period, the order has been approved by resolution of the Parliament”.

A public health approach to gambling harms - Issues with funding for research, education and treatment
UK Government has power within the current legislation to introduce a statutory levy on gambling companies to fund research, education and training, though it has not done so to date. A statutory levy is an option being considered in the Gambling Act Review.
