After discussion, the Bureau agreed unanimously— • to recommend to the Parliament that summer recess would last from 27 June to 9 August 2020, with the exception of 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 July and 6 August, on which dates business may be programmed by the Bureau to allow for meetings to take place. • that, with the exception of 9 and 30 July, any business programmed during summer recess would be virtual. • that the Parliament would return to its weekly cycle of hybrid meetings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and virtual meetings on Thursdays from 9 August; • that for any virtual question times during summer recess some advance notice of themes of questions would be given to better enable the preparation of responses to Members’ questions; • to note that the Presiding Officer could also recall the Parliament at any time during the summer recess period; • that the recommendation be communicated in a manner that makes clear that the Parliament will continue to meet over summer recess.

The private sector rent cap, evictions pause and damages for unlawful eviction measures described in this briefing apply to the end of September 2023.
After that date, the Act can be extended again (with parliamentary approval) for a further six months.
