Once we have more detail on the go-live date—it is not entirely within our gift to set that date at this point—we will be able to ramp up our work even further.
The day after this Parliament rose for the summer recess, my constituent Blair Wilson, who is from Neilston, was subject to homophobic abuse and a physical assault.
We are now sitting less than 18 months before the proposed implementation date in Scotland. We would ask that consideration is given to the implementation date.
One of the issues around the margin on that is that much of that was determined on fixed time periods with dates. Clearly, because of the delays, we are looking to see whether some of those dates can be extended, to make sure that we get the full benefit.
One point that must be made is that there is often a long tail-off to a recession. Once a recession starts and people lose their jobs, it can be up to 18 months before a home is repossessed, so even when we come out of recession, the problems will persist.
