It is extremely disappointing that a scheme that was announced in 2010 has not yet been rolled out. Indeed, the latest completion date is 2022. I can only imagine the criticisms that we might hear from some of my Conservative colleagues on my left—geographically, at least—if the Scottish Government ever took so long to do something.

It reminds us of the ripple effect of domestic abuse and the fact that it can affect so many different people, such as friends, family and people visiting the house—the example that is given in the explanatory notes is that of children on a play date. It will affect young women’s decisions about whether to go on a date and whether they do or do not feel safe.
