The theory was that, when the contract came to an end, the council would be sitting on a spanking, up-to-date, wonderful asset and would have a revenue stream to spend on lots of other things, including maintenance of the asset.
We are trying to proof the bill not just for now but for future years and generations, so I wonder whether the committee and the Parliament could be kept up to date on any changes in that regard.
I urge the member to seek to withdraw the amendment. If he wants to keep us up to date on his discussions with the ABI, there might be an opportunity to discuss what comes from them, if he wants to lodge an amendment at stage 3.
