Transfer of Operation of ScotRail
Scotrail came under public ownership on 1 April 2022 when the Scottish Ministers became “operator of last resort”. In advance of the transfer date, the Committee took evidence from key rail stakeholders and from the Scottish Government.
However, they are staggered over time into midsummer. Those delivery dates need to be met. We have people constantly—literally constantly—in touch with suppliers to make sure that delivery dates will be met.
I was aware that there was a slippage in the contract delivery date, and I think that Parliament was also aware of that at that point, because I think that Derek Mackay had already advised it of the initial slippage in the delivery date.
Until June 2016 the contractors original target date for the opening of the Forth Replacement Crossing project was December 2016, 6 months ahead of the contractual completion date.
