I have looked at the great crash and various other recessions that we have experienced during the 20th century—I have experienced more of them than most of you—and the duration of those recessions was much shorter than what we are experiencing now.
We continue to make progress from the financial crisis, with output in Scotland in quarter 2 now 1.4 per cent below its pre-recession peak and with the United Kingdom in the same quarter 2.7 per cent below pre-recession peak.

The Scottish Government’s engagement on developing governance and accountability of NHS boards will begin in March 2014 and I expect to report on the outcome before the summer recess. S4W-19459
We intend to publish a National Planning Framework Monitoring Report after the summer recess. An announcement on the revision of the National Planning Framework will be made at that time.
We are keen to make sure that we have up-to-date information. Generally, we have good information for our modelling work on income tax from the survey of personal incomes, but it is not always up to date.
