Written questions lodged on 28 June 2018 S5W-17526 Daniel Johnson: To ask the Scottish Government how much it has spent to date on the proposed merger of British Transport Police in Scotland with Police Scotland.
The group was due to send recommendations to ministers before the summer recess. The petitioner’s recent written submission points to the housing and homelessness emergency and the cost of living challenges in Scotland.
This is the final meeting before the summer recess, so I thank all members, the clerks, the officials and advisers to the committee for their hard work during what has been a very busy time, as is evidenced by the fact that two inquiries have been discussed this morning.
The committee previously considered the petition at our meeting on 29 June, just before the summer recess, when we agreed to write to the Scottish Government and Transport for London.
My concern around cervical screening involves some of the issues that my colleague Maree Todd updated Parliament on before the summer recess. She will provide Parliament with a further update shortly.
First, there has been a failure to lay the instrument in accordance with section 28(2) of the Interpretation and Legislative Reform (Scotland) Act 2010, section 28(2) of which requires that negative instruments be laid at least 28 days before they come into force, not counting recess periods of more than four days.
