We have just had a long discussion that centred very much on a letter from the Scottish Government, dated 22 March, in response to the committee’s letter of 26 February 2019.
I was equally puzzled by the background note and its claims of what is being maintained healthwise. The date that is used in the background notes is 4 August 2024, but there is no reference to a baseline date.
Originally, we hoped to convene this further evidence-taking session at our first meeting after the summer recess, but it proved too difficult to get everybody together at the appropriate time.
It is also about thinking how we can do things better, which will mean doing them differently. Before the recess, I outlined in the chamber how we might do that.
As I said, she is very keen to make a statement to Parliament after the recess, when members across the chamber will have the opportunity to consider these issues in even more detail.
