I know very much what MSPs are against, but we now need to show, going forward, in the not-too-distant future, when we return to Parliament after recess, what we are for. The question tonight is: what are we prepared to do now?
The Scottish Government asked whether the committee could, exceptionally, consider the regulations by 28 June, in order to complete parliamentary consideration before the summer recess. I agreed to place the item on the agenda for this meeting.
The deadline for lodging amendments to a Budget Bill at each Stage is 4:30pm on the Friday immediately preceding the week in which the Stage is due to start. If that Friday falls in a recess, the deadline is 4:30pm on the Friday immediately before the recess.
The next meeting of the committee will be scheduled for after the summer recess. Details will be sent to members and published in the Business Bulletin. 09:35 Meeting continued in private until 10:41.
The Committee will commence its evidence taking on 5 June and will continue holding evidence sessions with stakeholders at meetings until summer recess. It will then take concluding evidence from the salmon industry followed by the Scottish Government at meetings in the Autumn.
