Although the change will certainly give significant protection to members of partnerships, the key point is that the existing forms of partnership for some of the professions now seem very outdated. I understand what the committee is trying to do, which is to ensure that the information that is provided to the court—the victim's voice in that court—is current and not out of date. Clearly, the victim should be informed that they have the opportunity to make an up-to-date statement at any time.
