Having been told to expect the results of the review last year, we were then told to expect them this spring, but the minister is still unable to give us a date. Will she take the situation seriously by telling the Parliament and the people of Grampian what extra evidence she requires before she appreciates that the force is chronically underfunded?

The Executive confirms that it intends to commission research into the legal services market in Scotland and that it will let the committee know the outcome of its review of the research findings.The petitioner has provided further material in support of his petition, in which he states:"The case for research into the legal services market is to be blunt a ‘red herring'."In a letter dated 1 April 2004, he states:"It seems that the Justice Minister has made up her mind as to the outcome of the legal services research she has instigated and that there is to be no competition for Solicitors."
