It is not clear why a different approach was taken in this session nor why, when the Scottish Government in 2022 PB/S6/25/040 restored Transport as a distinct, separate, cabinet position (a change in which the 1 Committee considers we played a part ) this was not taken as an opportunity to make a corresponding update to our committee structures.

Where our members ‘lose out’ from the JE exercise, it is arguable that they have benefitted from the delay in that had the project been completed in, for example, 2022 they would have been marking time salary wise and would not have necessarily benefitted from the pay award (and back pay) as agreed in June 2024.
