Supported by: Angela Constance* *S5M-02699 Alex Rowley: Banking Closures That the Parliament acknowledges the — independent report by Professor Russel Griggs on banking closures; agrees with the recommendation that banks could "significantly improve" the way they consult with their customers over the closures, in particular older and vulnerable people who may be digitally excluded; notes the proposals by iPSL to close cheque processing sites in Clydebank and Tweed House Edinburgh and other sites across the UK, pushing some customers, however reluctantly, towards ever increasing digitalisation; considers that the banking industry, as part of this process, must meaningfully engage with the workforce and consider alternative plans, and understands that, between April 2015 and April 2016, there have been more than 600 branch closures across the UK, with Scotland being one of the most affected parts, per head of population.
