To ask the Scottish Executive what discussions it had with the Russian Government ahead of the lifting of its restriction on the importation of Scottish fish. There were numerous discussions with the Russian Government from April 2008 to lift the restriction.
That exacerbates the problem the next time that a flood takes place.I appreciate that environmental issues need to be considered and that the salmon fishing industry has a major interest in the Tay that needs to be preserved.

To ask the Scottish Executive what fish species were the subject of targeted research in (a) 2005, (b) 2006, (c) 2007 and (d) 2008 and what conclusions were reached.
The cabinet secretary highlighted the fact that, given that Scotland is a major exporter of high-quality beef and lamb as well as fish and other food and drink products, we must be careful how we conduct the debate about self-sufficiency.
