On the Registration of Fish Farming and Shellfish Farming Businesses Amendment (No 2) (Scotland) Order 2002 (SSI 2002/220), I invite the committee to join me in expressing displeasure that we have before us again an instrument that in effect just makes minor amendments to a previous badly drafted order.

I said that I would do anything, but I should say that, although fields are nice for people who like that kind of thing, there is no point in sending me to study foot-and-mouth and rural issues. I would be—to mix metaphors—a fish out of water in that field. If you are looking for a volunteer, I will go.

To ask the Scottish Executive why communities should be given the opportunity under Part 3 of the Land Reform (Scotland) Bill to purchase part of a salmon fishing compulsorily so that it may be utilised in a holistic fashion with croft land if this were to cause severance of the ownership and management of the salmon fishing and deny the present owners the ability to manage the salmon fishing in a holistic fashion.
