Before the close of business last week, the First Minister clarified in writing his remarks about fishing. I hope that we are not going to have a repeat of that today in relation to higher education.

As an east-coast constituency member and someone who was formerly a minister with responsibility for fisheries, I am well aware of the difficulties that face our fishing industry. Our own scientists are warning of a serious danger to important fish stocks.
