To ask the Scottish Executive what progress it has made in delivering its commitment to undertake research to determine whether there is a need for routine sight-screening for schoolchildren which it has indicated will also include an investigation of the optimal intervals for testing, who should undertake the tests and which tests should be used. Officials of the Health Department are seeking advice from the UK National Screening Committee (NSC) in relation to vision screening and are currently awaiting its response.

To ask the Scottish Executive what consideration it has given to my proposal that the enforcement of council tax liability should be suspended in very sheltered housing accommodation until a final decision is reached, in light of the undertaking by the Deputy Minister for Finance, Public Service Reform and Parliamentary Business on 1 December 2005 to consider the proposal (Official Report c. 21456).
