I am grateful to the Scottish warm homes campaign for appearing today. We considered its petition on 26 April last year when, to a large extent, we were quite a different committee.

It might be a useful exercise for members to appreciate the difficult conditions under which our officials sometimes have to operate given the way in which the decision-making process works, or does not work in some instances.
It followed a number of high-level visits to the United Kingdom by the previous Chinese justice minister and officials. During those visits, the Chinese expressed a particular wish to come to Scotland.
Over the next few weeks, the Equal Opportunities Committee, of which I am a member, will visit gypsy traveller sites to collect information. I welcome that.
