Other new and altered motions and amendments *S5M-16093 Liam McArthur: Visitors to Orkney Help Scotland s Heritage Sites to Another ’ Record-breaking Year That the Parliament welcomes confirmation from Historic Environment — Scotland of an increase in the number of people visiting Skara Brae, part of the World Heritage Site in Orkney; understands that in the last year there were 111,921 visitors to the site, making it the sixth most visited heritage site in Scotland; notes that Maeshowe, which is also part of Neolithic Orkney, reported an increase in visitor numbers as well; considers that these figures, which contributed to an overall increase in footfall at sites across Scotland, are indicative of the contribution that Orkney s historic environment makes to what Scotland has to offer; considers ’ that, as visitor numbers increase, it is imperative that these sites continue to receive support and funding to ensure that they remain preserved and accessible to as many people as possible, now and into the future; thanks all those involved in the tourism sector in Orkney and around the country, and wishes them all the best for the season ahead.
