The COPFS's evidence did not comment directly on how it would respond to the increased cost and time pressure of prosecuting the new offence. In oral evidence, its representative, Anne Marie Hicks said that-

In relation to judicial training, the Cabinet Secretary told the Committee that training on domestic abuse forms part of a new sentencer's induction and that refresher training is available throughout a judge's career.

Roz Thomson, Head of the Non-Government Bills Unit, confirmed that the largest costs arose from the implementation of the Bill and pointed out that, in the absence of baseline data, it was impossible to estimate the extent to which each school has implemented the existing guidance and therefore not possible to fully assess the costs associated with implementation of the provisions in the Bill.3Education, Children and Young People Committee.
