Supported by: Bill Kidd*, Sandra White*, Annie Wells*, Emma Harper*, Richard Lyle*, Stewart Stevenson* *S5M-13021 Lewis Macdonald: Dons Legend, Neale Cooper, Remembered by Former Club That the Parliament recognises that Hartlepool United FC is to name a stand after its — former manager and former Aberdeen player, Neale Cooper, who sadly passed away in May at the age of just 54; recognises that Cooper, who played for the Aberdeen team that won the European Cup Winners Cup in 1983, beating Real Madrid 2-1 in Gothenburg, had two managerial ’ spells at Hartlepool United, and that the former Mill House Stand at Hartlepool s Victoria Park will ’ be renamed the Neale Cooper Stand in recognition of his contribution to the club; notes that the new stand will officially be renamed at a ceremony on 14 July 2018, prior to a pre-season friendly between Hartlepool United and Sunderland, and recognises that Aberdeen FC has also paid its own tributes to Cooper, with 4,000 fans attending an event at Pittodrie to celebrate the life and career of the popular player.
