We have one nuclear power station left in Scotland, at Torness. Our workers on that site have kept the lights on and powered our country since the 1980s, and they deserve a future and a fair, just transition.

Some of them did not even know that it existed and that they were able to claim, and others said that they did not know how it would affect their current benefits. Some people were on universal credit and thought that, if they claimed the grant, the money would get taken off their universal credit in the future.

The Committee has previously called on the Scottish Government to amend the Principal Regulations, which have now been amended 19 times. Future plans to amend this instrument further would seem to indicate that a consolidation exercise is not anticipated.
We engage in conversations, hold workshops or conferences and share insights about how such activities could, at some point in the future, attract commercial capital. That is how we see ourselves operating.
