Supported by: Paul Sweeney* *S6M-13334 Claire Baker: Welcoming Sportscotland Gold School Sport Awards for Four Mid Scotland and Fife Schools —That the Parliament welcomes the latest sportscotland School Sport Awards in the Mid Scotland and Fife region; understands that sportscotland’s School Sport Award is funded by the National Lottery and is a national initiative designed to encourage schools to put young people at the heart of decision making, planning and implementation of extra- curricular school sport; believes that the awards encourage schools to self-reflect and continuously improve, recognise and celebrate successful school sport models and encourages sporting links between schools and the communities around them, providing opportunities for young people to progress; celebrates that the latest School Sport Award round includes four 2024-26 awards in the Mid Scotland and Fife region; congratulates Balcurvie Primary School in Windygates, Aberhill Primary School in Methil, Levenmouth Academy in Buckhaven and Kirkcaldy West Primary School in Kirkcaldy on all receiving Gold School Sport Awards; recognises what it sees as all the schools' achievements in putting sport at the heart of their planning, practice and ethos; acknowledges and commends excellent practice across the core areas of the award and the ongoing commitment to increase young people’s opportunities and engagement in physical education, school sport and leadership, and to provide clear pathways to life-long participation in sport; understands that the total number of current Gold School Sport Awards in Mid Scotland and Fife, including these recent awards, stands at 44, and extends its very best wishes to sportscotland, and all the schools for their exemplary work in encouraging sport participation across the region.
