We will be approving an exit strategy at our November board in preparation for a delayed funding announcement for 25/26 or worst-case scenario no funding at all.

In total, the changes set out in the Regulations will increase the Scottish Government’s 2025-26 budget by £3,394.9 million from £64,526.8 million to £67,921.7 million.

Membership changes
The following changes to the Committee’s membership occurred during the Committee’s scrutiny:
On 2 April 2025, Joe FitzPatrick MSP replaced Keith Brown MSP as a member of the Committee
On 26 June 2025, Paul McLennan MSP replaced Joe FitzPatrick MSP as a member of the Committee.
Use of cleaner fish (recommendations 26 and 28)
So called ‘cleaner fish’, such as lumpfish and wrasse, are natural sea lice predators and have been increasingly used in salmon farming as an alternative method of controlling sea lice to chemicals.
Budget Scrutiny
The Committee took evidence on the 2023-24 Budget from the Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Housing and Local Government on 19 January 2023.
