Due to those mainly trunk road investment schemes, new development will be attracted to the new junctions, which will mean that people are travelling further and travelling by car more than is modelled even by the “Carbon Account for Transport”.
I am always open to reviewing such schemes but, of course, every new one requires additional support—particularly from local government, which distributes it—so it is important that we target it well.
That existed for the victim surcharge in England and Wales, but it did not extend to the new victim surcharge in Scotland. The new order from the Westminster Government allows us to do that.
We hope that other topics will become patient stories. For example, the news last night talked about astonishing differences in outcomes for cancer for people who live in different postcodes in Scotland, but the news just gave stark figures.
In that regard, I was delighted a short while ago to visit an employer that Daniel Johnson is well aware of—Paper Tiger, which is one of the 1,000 accredited living-wage employers across the country.
I do not think that I am alone in preferring to see priority given to those who visit Scotland’s countryside for many other reasons, including to enjoy our fabulous scenery and our natural wildlife.

Edinburgh airport is only a few years into new ownership, and Glasgow has also found itself under new ownership, and there is now going to be a hell-for-leather battle to get new routes to both of those airports.
