*S6M-08165 Murdo Fraser: Pop Singer Ed Sheeran Pens Song about Aberfeldy on New Album—That the Parliament congratulates the superstar pop musician, Ed Sheeran, on penning a song about his love of Aberfeldy on his new album; notes that the tune is entitled The Hills of Aberfeldy, and understands that it will feature on his new album, Subtract, which will be released on 5 May 2023; further notes that Mr Sheeran has visited the Highland Perthshire town on many occasions, including in 2014 when he joined local band, The Victorian Trout Conspiracy, which was playing a gig at the Breadalbane Arms, and then played a session the same weekend at the Black Watch Bar with his friend, Irish singer/songwriter, Foy Vance; acknowledges that Ed Sheeran has the Aberfeldy whisky label tattooed on his arm, and wishes him all the best with his new album and for the future.
