Official Report Meeting date: 4 March 2010

Meeting of the Parliament 04 March 2010

I am mindful of what the minister said a few moments ago, but registered social landlords and housing associations in particular have expressed concern to me that the process of dealing with or removing antisocial tenants is extremely complicated.

Public Petitions Committee, 06 Oct 2009

Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 (PE1254) Christine Grahame has also expressed an interest in PE1254, from Mark Laidlaw, which calls on the Parliament to urge the Government to amend section 51 of the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 to allow flexibility so that an employee of a fire and rescue authority can also be employed as a special constable.

Plenary, 12 Mar 2009

If the proposals are given the go-ahead, we will be prepared to enter into discussions about how other public facilities could perhaps deploy services in a way that ensured the convenience of members of the public, but I stress that the Scottish Government expresses its deep concern at the proposals of HM Revenue and Customs and urge that an alternative cou...

I never thought that I would make that comment about a Liberal Democrat, but I have just done so.Robin Harper wants to express a view. As a local MSP and a supporter of Capital Rail Action Group for as long as I can remember, I have an interest to declare.
Official Report Meeting date: 15 January 2008

Public Petitions Committee, 15 Jan 2008

We are almost positively discriminating in favour of home-grown teachers, but we are not negatively discriminating against others in any way—I may not be expressing myself particularly well. I cannot see how we could offer the same guarantee to teachers from the rest of the world.
Official Report Meeting date: 8 November 2007

Plenary, 08 Nov 2007

The curriculum for excellence will establish a new framework for those decisions, which will include a Scottish perspective on the expressive arts. I thank the minister for that answer but, sadly, I must draw her attention to the occasional hostility of conventionally trained music teachers to traditional music tutors who are delivering the youth music init...

Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee, 30 Oct 2007

It is also contained in annex A to paper 4. In addition, members expressed their concern at the previous committee meeting about the impact of the section on their work in constituencies. The paper proposes a timetable for seeking written evidence from a number of organisations, both parliamentary and external, as well as for seeking the public's views on as...

Plenary, 20 Sep 2007

I certainly agree with the sentiments that Christine Grahame has expressed. Schools should not be involved in any activity that discriminates against disabled pupils under the Disability Discrimination Act 2005.
