Do you acknowledge that having overlapping time frames might be a strength and might give more flexibility? One of the ideals that we work to is to try to ensure that everything coincides exactly, but of course that will never happen.
That would be a step forward. It might not be the ideal, but it would represent a tremendous improvement on the current situation under voluntary regulations.
There will obviously be many responsibilities and duties placed on everyone who is involved in water management in Scotland. This seems to be an ideal opportunity to consider the responsibilities that Scottish Water would have under the water framework directive and to integrate them now into Scottish Water's general duties.
That is a good point. It strikes me that, ideally, the general practitioner should signpost the elderly patient, or whomever, towards the care package that is most appropriate to their needs.
SEPA's written evidence to the clerk on 26 July 2004 commented on the draft code of construction practice and flood risk aspects, nature conservation and air quality.
It is also interesting to note that one in 10 of those who had visited a GP in the previous 12 months received a prescription that was not handed in; cost seemed to be one of the issues.
We may not be able to learn much in that regard from the committees that we intend to visit. However, I do not want to instigate a major piece of research.
At that stage, the committee would visit the EU institutions in Brussels and meet members of the European Parliament and commissioners to get a feel for the year ahead.
