Is not it so much better to turn round and say what we want to do and what we want in agricultural support, and to try to get everybody to buy into that in a positive way? We are already taking that approach in the discussions that officials are having.
Some of the buildings are 100 years old or so. When people buy a property, they really do not know what is in it, what work has been done to it, or even whether there has been a breach of building regulations in the past that could have had an impact on the building—not necessarily a fire impact, but a structural impact, for example.
Given that a lot of our buildings are very old, that means that consumers who buy them do not have a clue what is in them or when the roof was last inspected, for example.
I was thinking more about which cars British people would be buying. If tariffs were introduced on German automobiles, there might be a growing appetite for Japanese cars that are built in Britain, which might deal with the issue.
