Supported by: Bill Kidd*, Sandra White*, Richard Lyle*, Liam Kerr*, Stewart Stevenson*, Gil Paterson* *S5M-20113 Donald Cameron: Top VisitScotland Award for Cruachan Power Station Visitor Centre—That the Parliament congratulates the staff of Cruachan Power Station Visitor Centre on achieving a score of 91% in VisitScotland’s quality assurance scheme for the first time; notes that this outstanding result puts the visitor centre among Scotland’s top 20 visitor attractions; commends its efforts in welcoming 50,000 visitors each year and for offering free educational visits to schools and higher education institutions, helping to inspire future engineers; welcomes this achievement on the 60th anniversary of the commencement of the construction of the power station; recalls that Cruachan is the world’s first reversible pumped storage hydro system to be built on this scale and that it can store enough energy to power a city for more than 15 hours, and encourages visitors to explore Cruachan Power Station and learn more about its role in helping Scotland decarbonise its electricity.
