It is worth saying that the Health and Sport Committee in the previous session of Parliament, of which I was a member, scrutinised two common frameworks and heard from the Scottish Government, stakeholders and officials.
It also agreed to write to the Scottish Government.

Many young carers sacrifice their time, their education and their social lives to support family members. That is why I am pleased that the Government has committed an extra £5 million in the 2025-26 budget to help unpaid carers to take short breaks.
