As I said in response to the member’s question S4W-10175, answered on 2 November 2012, decisions on the administration and operation of the custody visiting scheme will be a matter for the Scottish Police Authority.

To ask the Scottish Executive how many people have been prohibited from making visits to prisons as a result of having been caught attempting to smuggle in a mobile phone.
That shows how long overdue the bill is and that it should form part of what we do in the Parliament.I reflect on Jim Wallace’s view that we need to strike a “new balance” between the Parliament, local government and communities.
In your evidence to the committee last year, you mentioned your concerns about funding in relation to the use of new technologies, particularly body-worn cameras, for Police Scotland.
