We might not have to take evidence from all and sundry; the Executive might need only take into account standards that apply in comparable countries. We could put feelers out to the Executive about whether we should be investigating the issue instead of reacting to it when the housing bill is introduced.

I will let Alex Johnstone in later, but I want to finish a point.I will draw a comparison, this time comparing apples with apples, rather than apples with oranges.
Amendment 77 would, if agreed to, pre-empt the other amendments in the group, except amendment 111. Does any other member want to comment on the amendments in this group?
I was concerned when the minister compared the elections with the elections to school boards and community councils, which are not uniformly successful in Scotland.
